Two people were killed, and two others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a microbus in Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna on Saturday (January 20).

This accident happened around 8:30 in the morning on the Kushtia-Nator-Pabna highway in Mirkamari Purbapara of Salimpur Union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Amit Kumar Kundu, 40, son of Subrata Kundu of Radhanagar area of Pabna, passenger of the private car, Nasim Ahmed, 45, son of Abdur Rauf of Sheikhpara village of Muladuli Union of Iswardi. They were going from Pabna to Ishwardi Export Processing Zone (EPZ).

According to police and local sources, A Rajshahi bound passenger bus SM Paribahan collided with a Kushtia bound microbus. In this incident two people of the private car died on the spot.

Being informed, the members of Ishwardi Fire Service Civil Defense recovered the bodies and handed over to the Pakshi Highway Police, said police.

Pakshi Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashish Kumar Sanal confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

The driver and helper are absconding. The process of the case under the Road Accident Act is underway, the official added.
