Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said the lowest temperature 6.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chuadanga and Sirajganj districts around 9am on Tuesday (Jan 23) which is also the lowest temperature of this season.

According to BMD report, the cold wave is sweeping in the northern part of the country and some more districts, including Rajshahi, Dhaka and Khulna.

Meteorologist Abul Kalam Mallik confirmed the matter.

He said, "The temperature may remain between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius for the next few days in some parts of the country, including northern regions.

The met office said that there may be rain in some parts on Tuesday. It may rain in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions today.

The weather will remain dry with partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country.

According to Banglanews district correspondents, the plight of the people has intensified significantly, with a tenfold escalation in suffering attributed to heavy fog and relentless cold waves across those regions of the country.

Those facing the harsh weather are mostly the low-income individuals, who are particularly vulnerable due to a lack of adequate warm clothing, they added.
