Two activists of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) were reportedly shot to death and another injured in a gunfight between two groups of the party at Mohalchari uapzila in Khagrachhari district today (January 4). 

The incident took place at around 7.30am in Durchhari village under the upazila.

The deceased Rabi Kumar Chakma, 45, and Shanta Chakma alias Bimol, 52, both were activists of the regional political party.

However, the actual reason behind the killing would be known after investigation, he added.

Additional Superintendent of Police in Khagrachhari district Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter, adding that legal action would be taken in this regard.
