DHAKA: Miscreants set fire to 56 polling centers across the country in between Friday night to Saturday morning as indefinite blockade and 48-hour hartal underway across the country protesting the Sunday’s 10th parliamentary elections.

In capital, miscreants blasted six cocktails in two vote centers in Azompur area in capital’s Uttara area at around 9:30pm Friday.
In Khulna, four polling centers were torched in the district at around 08:00pm.
Sources said that miscreants set fire to Sundarban government Ideal College, BK Union Institute School, Rupsha Versatile high school and Nazrul Nagar government school and fled the scene.
In Barisal, Dehergati Ishshar Narayan School polling station under Babuganj Upazila of the district was set fire by hartal supporters at around 10:00pm.
Babuganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Shah Alam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
In Nilphamari, hartal supporters torched two polling centers and hurled cocktails aiming Upazila Awami League office of Domar Upazila in the district at around 8:30pm.
In Jhenaidah, miscreants set fire to three voting centers in Shailakupa and Sadar Upazila of the district.
Sources said that riding on motorbike some 10-12 masked man set fire two voting centers at around 6:00am Saturday.
Earlier on Friday night, miscreants torched another vote center in Shailkupa Upazila.
Shailkupa Thana Sub-Inspector Ashikur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
In Pirojpur, hartal supporters torched a polling center of Debipur Board government primary school under Mathbaria Upazila of the district at around 5:45am Saturday.
In Rajshahi, miscreants torched four vote centers in Charghat upazila of the district on Friday night.
Confirming the matter Charghat Model Thana Officer-in-Charge Khandakar Golam Mortuza told banglanews, “Miscreants set fire in Sarda government Pilot High School at around 11:15pm and Kalabipara Ideal High School at around 12:15am.”
In Sylhet, a fire broke out in a room of polling center Under Jaintapur upazila of the district on Saturday morning.
Confirming the matter, Additional Police Super of District Police Rawshanuzzaman told banglanews, “The fire originated from an electric short circuit.”
In Rangpur, miscreants set fire to six vote centers in Pirganj Upazila and Sadar Upazila on Friday night.
In Feni, miscreants torched two polling centers in Sonagazi of the district early hours of the day.
In Laxmipur, Miscreants set fire in five polling centers of various upazilas of the district early Saturday.
In Narayanganj, some unidentified miscreants set fire to Aukhab government primary school vote center of Rupganj Upazila of the district.
In Sunamganj, Poll resisters set fire to a vote center in Dowara bazar upazila of the district early Saturday.
In Bogra, miscreants set fire in four vote centers in several upazilas of the district early Saturday.
Besides, poll resisters torched seven polling centers in Barguna, three in Dinajpur, Three in Gaibandha, three in Bhola, one in Laxmipur and two in Brahmanbaria.
