DHAKA: BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman called upon the people of the country to boycott the Sunday’s 10th parliamentary election.
He came up with urge through a video message from London, the capital of United Kingdom on Saturday.
Tarique said “As we Bangladeshis believe in the basic principles of democracy, it is high time to resist the mockery election at any cost forgetting all the differences for the sake of the country.”
Amid serious criticism from home and abroad, the 10th parliamentary election is scheduled to be held in 147 out of 300 constituencies of the country without participation of the main opposition BNP, he added.
Earlier on Friday, terming the upcoming polls as farce one, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia urged countrymen to boycott the elections.
