NARAYANGANJ: At least eight shops were gutted in a devastating fire at a market at Siddirganj under Sadar Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.
Witnesses said that the fire originated from a shop of the market and spread out to adjacent area.
On information, two ire fighting units of Narayanganj Fire Service and two units from Demra fire service rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under conrol after three hour efforts.
Police said that the fire gutted seven shops of battery and tyres and a diagnostic center.
Confirming the matter, Siddhirganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdul Matin told banglanews, ”Five people became injured while they were trying to douse the fire.”
The shops owners claimed that the fire damaged assets worth about Tk 1 crore.
