Gambian President Adama Barrow has congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her reelection as Bangladeshi premier.

In a letter sent to Sheikh Hasina, the President wrote: "I have immense pleasure in conveying our warmest congratulations to You on Your recent election on behalf of the government and People of The Gambia and my own behalf."

He added: "I would like to take this opportunity to renew the commitment of the Government of the Republic of The Gambia to continue working closely with the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in many areas of mutual interest for our two countries."

The President ended, saying: "Whilst I wish to reaffirm to You that the Government of The Gambia values the long-standing friendship between the Republic of The Gambia and the People's Republic of Bangladesh."
