The High Court today (February 22) ordered authorities concerned to pay all the due benefits to Monthly Payment Order (MPO)-enlisted private educational institutions' teachers and staff within six months of their retirement.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque pronounced the judgment after holding hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard.
"The teachers have to wait years after years for getting their retirement benefits. They cannot avoid such harassment in anyway. We have to take into consideration their salaries as well. So their retirement benefits have to be paid within six months of their retirement," the court said during the hearing.
Advocate Siddiq Ullah Miah moved the plea before the court, while Deputy Attorney General Amit Dasgupta stood for the state.
