Salman F Rahman, prime minister’s private industry and investment adviser, on Friday (Feb 23) said tough action will be taken against dishonest traders if they hike prices of essential commodities during the upcoming Ramadan.
He warned while talking to reporters in Rajshahi before he joined the 34th Tabligi Ijtema organised by Ahle Hadith Andolon Bangladesh.
“I had a conversation with the food minister in parliament on Thursday. Within a few days, he will sit with deputy commissioners and superintendents of police in Dhaka and instruct them in taking measures on the issue,” Salman said.
“I want to assure you that we will spend this Ramadan well, inshallah. There will be no problem.”
In another context, the prime minister’s adviser said, “There is no dollar crisis now in the country although the rate is high. I have discussed this issue with the Bangladesh Bank governor. He has also taken some measures. Hopefully, the dollar rate will stabilise soon.”
