Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury will leave for Kenya today (Feb 26) afternoon to attend the 6th Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi.
The minister would represent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA).
The theme of this years' is "Effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.
The UNEA will begin on February 26 in Nairobi, Kenya, where Heads of State and more than 5,000 representatives from government, civil society and the private sector are expected to tackle some of the planet's most-pressing environmental challenges.
Chowdhury will actively engage in the High Level segment of the Assembly, deliver Bangladesh's statement and showcase of the country's successes in locally led adaptation while at the same time emphasizing the imperative of global solidarity and action.
The minister will also underscore the importance of national initiatives and ownership in environmental stewardship.
The UNEA is the world's top decision-making body on matters related to the environment and includes all 193 UN Member States.
The minister is scheduled to return home on March 3 after attending the UN Environment Assembly.
