Woman held with 1.320kg gold in Chuadanga

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a woman while allegedly smuggling 1.320 kg of gold to neighboring India from Darshana border area in Chuadanga. 

Taslima Khatun was arrested around 11 am from Chichgharia village on the border of Chuadanga Darshana.

Commander of Chuadanga-6 Battalion of BGB Lt. Col. Syed Mohammad Zahidur Rahman disclosed the information through a press release.

According to press released, Taslima was carrying gold on an easy bike for smuggling in India. At that time, she was searched and 11 gold bars weighing 1 kg 320 grams (113.16 Bhori) were recovered. The market value of the gold is Tk 1.30 crore.

A case has been filed by BGB along with handing over the arrested woman to Darshana police station, said Zahidur Rahman. 

Besides, the recovered gold bars have been deposited at the Chuadanga Treasury Office, he added.
