A seven-member investigation committee, headed by additional district magistrate, was formed to find the cause of the fire at S Alam group sugar mill in Karnaphuli of Chattogram.

Additional divisional commissioner Anwar Pasha formed the committee headed by additional district magistrate Mamunur Rahman on Sunday (February 4).

CMP's deputy commissioner (port zone) Shakila Farjana confirmed the matter.

The fire that broke out at S Alam Sugar Mill in the Moizzartek area of Karnaphuli around 4 pm on Monday is yet to be brought fully under control.

Karnaphuli Upazila Nirbahi Officer Masuma Jannat told Banglanews that 100 members of the Bangladesh Army, 2 teams of the Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, RAB, Police and a large number of law enforcement officers are cooperating in extinguishing the fire of S Alam Refined Sugar Industries.
