A man was arrested along with a half kilogram of gold powder, gold bar, and ornaments from Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport on Sunday (March 17).

The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Nezam Uddin, of Boalkhali upaizla in Chattogram district.

Taslim Ahmed, director of the airport, confirming the matter said a flight of Air Arabia landed at the airport from Sharjah in the morning.

Tipped off, a team of National Security Intelligence arrested challenged Nezam and seized half kg of gold powder, one gold bar, weighing 116.5 grams, gold ornaments, weighing 100 grams worth Tk 39.85 lakh after searching Nezam’s body and arrested him, he said.

Process is on to take legal steps against Nezam, said Taslim.
