CHITTAGONG: A readymade garments worker was killed and over 15 others were injured in a clash with police in Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) in the port city on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Parvin Akter, 18, a garment worker of the KEPZ.
Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Abul Basher confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Witness said the clash took place at 1:00pm when the police were trying to disperse the agitated workers who confined the officials of KSA Factory of the Youngone Group, leaving at least 15 people, including three police men, were injured.
The injured were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
The agitating workers vandalized and set fire to the factory following the incident.
On information, two firefighting units rushed in and doused the fire.
Niaz Morshed, assistant commissioner of the port zone of Chittagong Metropolitan of Police, confirmed the matter to banglanews.
