DHAKA: The Gonojagoron Mancha activists started the road march from Shahbagh in the capital to Malopara of Jessore on Friday morning for protesting communal violence.
Mancha’s spokesperson Imran H Sarker leads the march started at 10:00am.
Eight buses, two pick-up vans and numbers of private and vehicle carrying media persons joined the road march.
Imran H Sarker said some 350 activists of Gonojagoron Mancha are taking part in the road march. Many others will join the march from different districts on way to Jessore.
The Shahbagh protesters will hold roadside rallies at dairy gate of Jahangirnagar University in the morning, Manikganj at 12:00am, then Goalanda bus stand and Janata Bank intersection in Faridpur at 3:00pm, Madhukhali at 4:00pm and Magura at 5:00pm.
The Mancha activists will stay in Jessore at night and will start for Malopara at 10:00am Saturday, he added.
Later, the marchers will hold rally at Chitra Intersection in the district at 3:00pm.
The Ganojagoron Mancha will distribute relief goods and financial assistance among the victims.
Several houses of Hindu community at Malopara in Avoynagar were vandalized allegedly by Jamaat-Shibir men on January 5 hours after ending the voting in the 10th national election.
