National Committee for Protection of Sea, Road and Railway today (March 21) urged the government for eight days of Eid holiday in garment factories.
The committee president Haji Md. Shohid Mia and General Secretary Ashish Kumar Dey made the call in the interest of the smooth movement of people toward home.
According to the statement, a huge number of people during Eid-ul-Fitr holiday leaves Dhaka, among which around 35 percent are garment workers. However, road, rail and sea sector has less capacity to transport this huge people within a week before Eid. As a result, public suffering and chaos take place.
To avoid the public suffering garment workers can be allowed eight days of Eid holiday, the national committee leaders said.
