Three people were killed and two others injured after Nasiman rammed a battery operated autorickshaw in Gaibandha’s Gobindaganj area on Thursday (March 21).

The incident happened at the district’s Gainandha-Gobindaganj-Bhaiya Nakaihat road’s Bottola area at 8pm.

According to police, among the deceased, one on Thursday night and others today succumbed to injuries at Rangpur Medical College.

The deceased were identified as Mutalib Mia, son of late Bhola Mia of Kumargari area of Nakai Union of Gobindganj Upazila, Sabuj Mia son of Budha Sheikh of the same village, and van driver Ashraful Islam, son of Mojibur Rahman of the same village.

Two injured Belal Mia, 45, and Amirul Islam, 33, are under treatment in Rangpur Medical.

Locals said the deceased were going to Nakaihat in a battery operated autorickshaw from home. On the way a soil laden Nasiman hit passenger carrying van in Battola area of Gaibandha-Gobindganj-Bhaiya Nakaihat road, leaving five people injured.

After the injured people were rushed to Rangpur medical, three died there while receiving treatment, said locals.

Gobindganj police station OC Shamsul Alam Shah confirming the matter said that the police visited the incident scene immediately on receiving information. 

Relatives took the body home from the hospital, he said, adding a case is being prepared in this regard.
