Justice M. Enayetur Rahim, a senior judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, will perform the duties as the acting Chief Justice (CJ) in the absence of Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan due to his USA visit.

Supreme Court Appellate Division Registrar M. Saifur Rahman confirmed the matter to the media today saying: "The present Chief Justice left Dhaka for the United States of America at 3:10am on Friday and he is scheduled to return home on March 31."

"During this time, or till the Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan joins his office, Justice M. Enayetur Rahim will perform the duty of Chief Justice of the country as per the provisions of article 97 of the Constitution of Bangladesh," he added.

The Chief Justice of Bangladesh will meet the Chief Justice of the United States on March 27 during his visit, the Registrar added.
