The government today (March 24) opened seven flyovers of the Bus Rapid Transit Line-3 Project, also known as BRT Project, on the Gazipur-Airport route to reduce traffic congestion.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul He opened the flyovers through a video conference from his secretariat office in the capital.

The flyovers are - 323 m Airport Flyover (Left Side), 323 m Airport Flyover (Right Side), 180m Jasimuddin Flyover, 165m U-turn-1 Gazipura Flyover, 165 m U-turn-2 open university flyover, 240 m Bhogra flyover, and 568 meter flyover at Gazipur intersection.

While opening the flyovers the minister also Awami League General Secretary said, “These flyovers are the gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the homebound commuters before Eid-Ul-Fitr.”

However, this project couldn’t finish on time. There was some unwanted events for which project was delayed. But still the project is about to end, said Minister Quader.

“I hope, this year we can manage to ply busses on to this route,” said the minister, adding, a total of 91% of the project work has been finished rest will be done by December. 

The cost of the project is Tk 4.268 crore 32 lakh 43 thousand.
