Meat trader Khalilur Rahman today (March 24) said he will continue to sell beef at Tk 595 instead of Tk 695 till 20th Ramadan.
On Thursday, Khalilur faced criticism from the commoners for hiking meat price suddenly.
A press conference titled "Selling beef at affordable prices at the individual level" was organized by the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection today (March 24).
In the press conference Khalilur said, “The higher price of cattle forced me to hike beef price. Now I have decided to sell beef at previous price so that commoners can buy beef in the Ramadan.”
“I will however not slaughter more than 20 cows per day and the meat will be sold from 7am to 3pm only," he said.
Besides Khalilur Rahman, meat traders Ujjal from Mirpur and Nayan Ahmed from Old Dhaka were present at the press conference.
While talking at the press conference Ujjal and Nayan have announced to increase the price of meat.
Ujjal fixed the price of meat at Tk 635 by increasing Tk 35 per kg. At the same time Nayan of Old Dhaka has announced to sell mixed meat at 600 taka increasing from Tk 570 and hanging meat at 650 taka.
