Pakshi Divisional Railway Authority has suspended two locomasters and an assistant station master for negligence of duty in a head-on collision between two freight trains in Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna.

They are Assistant Station Master Mahbooba Shahinoor, Locomaster (LM) KM Hamidullah, and Assistant Locomaster (ALM) Junaid Hossain, from Pabna Ishwardi Railway Junction Station.

The employees were suspended through an official order issued by the Train Control of Pakshi Divisional Railway Headquarters at 2 am on Wednesday (March 27).

Besides, a four-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident.

Shah Sufi Noor Mohammad, the Pakshi Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Western Railway, confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

The collision between two freight trains occurred around 12:05 am near the Ishwardi label crossing gate on the Ishwardi-Khulna railway line.

Due to the accident, the Khulna's rail communication with Dhaka and the country's northern districts remained suspended for more than 6 hours 

There were no immediate reports of casualties, Shah Sufi Noor said.

He said the reason behind the collision would be known after an investigation.
