The first consignment of 1.65 thousand tonnes of onions imported from India will reach the country on Sunday (March 31) night via rail routes.
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu disclosed the matter at a meeting held at the ministry in the capital.
As a result, from Monday, the Transport Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would be able to sale onions at Tk40 per kilogram in Dhaka and Chattogram.
The rest of the imports would enter the country gradually.
