At least two people were killed and two others injured after a private car hit a covered van on Dhaka-Tangail Bangabandhu Bridge highway.

However, the deceased and injured could not be identified immediately. 

The accident took place in Ashekpur area of the highway on Sunday (March 31) at 8 am.

In charge of Elenga Highway Police Outpost Sajedul Islam said a north Bengal-bound private car carrying three passengers hit the covered van in Ashekpur area, leaving the car driver dead on the spot and three others injured. 

Later, another one succumbed to his injuries at Tangail General Hospital, the official added.
