A Chattogram court today (March 31) sentenced a man to life term imprisonment in a drug trafficking case filed in 2020.

Chattogram Additional Sessions Court Shariful Alam Bhuiyan passed the verdict. 

Besides, the court also fined the convict Tk 10,000, in default, to serve one more year in the jail.

The convict Ibrahim Khalil, 39, son of Entaz Mia of Cumilla, was a driver of a pickup van. The court also acquitted another person named Md Halim, a helper of the pickup van.

According to the prosecution, on April 21, 2020, RAB members searched at pickup van at a check post on Oxygen-Muradpur road in Raufbad area under Bayezid Bostami Police Station in Chattogram and found 9,895 pieces of Yaba tablets concealed in the vehicle. 
A case has been filed with the police station in connection with the incident.

Investigation officer of the case submitted a charge sheet against the accused on January 19, 2021.
