Two persons were killed after a cement-laden truck ran over their bicycle in Meherpur's sadar upazila on Monday (April 1).

The accident happened early in the morning in Chandbil area on the Meherpur-Chuadanga road

One of the deceased was identified as Hasan Ali, 21, son of Liton Ali of Chandbil village. 

Additional Superintendent of Police (Circle) Abdul Karim confirmed the matter.

He said two youths on a bicycle were coming to Meherpur from Chandbil village while the truck was coming towards Meherpur. The driver of the truck lost control and hit the bicycle, leaving the two dead on the spot.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Meherpur General Hospital morgue.

Police arrested the truck driver on the spot, police said, adding process of filing a case got underway in this connection.
