Eid-ul-Fitr holidays begin April 10

The government today (April 1) said public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr this year will begin on April 10 and continue till April 12.

The Cabinet Committee on Law and Order on Sunday recommended an additional holiday on 9 April, but the Cabinet rejected it after a meeting at the Prime Minister's Office this morning.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

The cabinet committee on Sunday recommended adding a day to the start of the Eid vacation aiming to make travels comfortable for holidaymakers.

Eid-ul-Fitr this year is expected to be held on April 11.

Although the government earlier announced Eid vacation from 10 April to 12 April, the holidays will be extended by two more days as 13 April falls on Saturday and 14 April is Pahela Baishakh, which is also a public holiday.
