Less than 16 hours after the robbery of Sonali Bank in Ruma Upazila, armed robbers looted Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank of Thanchi Upazila in Bandarban today (April 3).

They entered the premises of both bank branches in the upazila's Thanchi Bazar area around 12:30pm and looted more than Tk 20 lakh.

Thanchi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Mamun confirmed the matter.

Earlier, on Tuesday (April 2) around 9 pm 70-80 armed robbers surrounded Ruma Upazila Parishad area. 

Later, they went to Sonali Bank, snatched weapons from the police and Ansar members and beat them, also vandalized and looted the bank.

Along with that, the robbers also kidnapped the bank manager.

Police Superintendent Saikat Shaheen of Bandarban said that locals believe that the new separatist organization Kukichin National Front (KNF) may have done this incident.
