Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today said (April 3) the heat wave over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Rajshahi may continue and spread for the next 72 hours.
The four divisions may experience temperatures surging up to 40°C during the period, according to the alert message for heat wave issued by the BMD today.
The four divisions are currently experiencing heat waves. The extremity of the heat waves are feared may increase further, said an alert message signed by Md Bazlur Rashid, BMD meteorologist, issued this afternoon.
Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Khulna divisions and it may spread. Due to increase of moisture incursion, the discomfort may increase, said the met office.
Besides, rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely at one or two places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Kishoreganj and Brahmanbaria with hails at isolated places.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.
Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
