Man, wife die in Mymensingh road accident

A man and his wife died in a motorcycle accident in Mymensingh's Haluaghat upazila on Friday (April 5).

The incident happened around 8 am at Laxmikura Bazar on the border road from the upazila town.

The deceased were Saidur Rahman, 28, and his wife Sonia Akter, 22, hailed from Rowmari upazila in Kurigram district.

According to police, Saidur Rahman worked in Ishwarganj upazila, Mymensingh. On the occasion of the Eid holidays, the husband and wife were going to their home in Kurigram from Ishwarganj riding on their motorcycle. On the way, Saidur lost control and collided with a roadside electricity pole. Saidur Rahman died on the spot.

Local people rescued Sonia Akter and took to Haluaghat Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Haluaghat police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mahbubul Haque confirmed the matter.
