Members of police arrested two people along with fake stamps worth over Tk 2 crore on Saturday night.
The arrestees were Md Asif Iqbal, 38, hailing from Barishal and Md Jewel, 42, hailing from Manikganj.
Abdullahil Kafi, Dhaka District Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) confirmed the matter at a press briefing at Ashulia Police Station's auditorium on Sunday (April 7).
He said police arrested Asif when he came to sell fake stamps at Donglion Garment Factory in Narsinghpur area of Ashulia on Saturday night. Police also seized 2,90,200 pieces of Tk 10 revenue stamps from his possession.
Later, according to his given information, Jewel was arrested from Mouchak Bazar area in Gazipur with 50,000 stamps.
The official said the gang has been supplying fake stamps, which is required for paying salaries to garment factories and government and private organisations.
The value of the fake stamps is around Tk 2,01,60,000. A case was filed against them with the concerned police station.
