Three more KNF militants were arrested from Ruma and Thanchi upazilas of Bandarban today (April 8), about a day after conducting successful raids for arresting six operatives of the indigenous separatist group.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Hossain Md Raihan Kazemi confirmed the latest arrest to reporters. A driver was also detained along with the three alleged militants. Details of the raids would be disclosed at a later time, Kazemi said.

About eight separate cases, four in Ruma and four in Thanchi, have been filed against the militant outfit since it carried out a series of bank heists on 2 and 3 April in the two upazilas. Security has been beefed up in the upazilas, while local banks have been ordered closed – leading to long queues at the Sonali Bank branch at Bandarban municipality.
