The government has awarded the status of State Minister to mayors Talukder Abdul Khaleque of Khulna City and AHM Khairuzzaman Liton of Rajshahi City.

A gazette notification signed by Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain was issued on Tuesday (April 9).

The notification said, “The government has decided that Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque and Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton will be given rank of State Minister while holding their respective positions.”

“Also their remuneration and other benefits will be determined as per the Local Government (City Corporation) Act, 2009,” the notification read. 

Khairuzzaman Liton expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on behalf of the people of Rajshahi for giving the rank of State Minister.
