Bhashantek gas blast death toll reaches 3 as one more dies 

The death toll from a gas leak explosion in Bhashantek area in Dhaka has risen to three, with another succumbing to his injuries.

Md Liton, 52 died while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute Tuesday morning.

The burn institute’s resident doctor Md Tariqul Islam said that 67% of Liton's body was burnt.

Earlier, his wife Surya Banu, 40, died Monday evening with 82% burns on her body.

Before that, on Saturday night, Surya Banu's mother Meherunnessa, 70, died with 47% burns on her body.

Liton and Surya’s three children, Liza, 15, Lamia, 7, and Susan, 8, are currently undergoing treatment.

According to doctors, their condition was critical.

Six members of a family, including women and children, sustained burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in Bhashantek area in Dhaka on Friday.

They were rescued and admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
