DHAKA: War crimes accused AKM Yusuf died due to cardiac arrest in city on Sunday morning.
The Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer breathed his last at around 11:30am on the way of hospital.
Yusuf’s lawyer, Advocate Tazul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Sources said that the accused Yusuf felt sick at Kashimpur jail then he was rushed to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University but on the way of hospital he fainted.
Later, duty doctors declared him dead.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital Director Brigadier General (retd) Abdul Majid said that he died before reaching hospital.
AKM Yusuf was arrested in the several cases, charging him with crimes against humanity during the country’s war of Independence in 1971.
