A senior civil aviation engineer was killed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Friday (April 19) after a bus lost control and broke the security wall at the airport's third terminal.
The accident took place around 10 am in front of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway.
Deceased identified as Maidul Islam Siddiqui was a Senior Deputy Assistant Engineer of Civil Aviation.
Airport Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Sumon Chandra Das confirmed the matter.
He said that around 10 am, a bus of Raida Paribahan lost control over its steering and broke through the security wall of the third terminal and entered inside.
At that time, Engineer Maidul Islam was riding a motorcycle on the road. He was seriously injured when his motorcycle was crushed by the bus, he said.
Later, he was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, the officer said.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy, he added.
The police officer added that the bus involved in the accident has been seized but the driver and helper fled the scene.
