MADARIPUR: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday categorically said the construction work of the main part of the much-talked-about Padma Bridge will start by June.

Besides, the river management works for the bridge will begin by July involving Tk 7,000 crore, he added.

The communications minister came up with the disclosure after visiting the ongoing works of Padma Bridge in Madborchor area of the district.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker also said Padma Bridge is now no more a dream. Much awaited construction work of the bridge is going to be begun involving Tk 10,000 crore initially.

In this regard, five companies selected by World Bank submitted tenders for river management works.

Obaidul Quader also said the river management works would start by July after reviewing their offers.
