SATKHIRA: The ring leader of Ashraf Bahini was killed and three police men were injured in a ‘gunfight’ between his cohorts and law enforcers in Pakhimara area under Shyamnagar Upazila of the district early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Ashraf alias Ranga, the ring leader of Ashraf Bahini.

Sources said that acting on tip off; some robbers are attempting to commit robbery in the area, a patrol police team rushed to the spot.

Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire aiming them. In reply, police fired back that triggered a gunfight.

 The ringleader of the gang was caught line in the fire, leaving him dead on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Shyamnagar Thana Officer-in-Charge Sagir Mia told banglanews, “Ashraf was wanted in 20 cases for various charges.”
