Habibur Rahman buried in city

DHAKA: Former Chief Justice Habibur Rahman, also former chief of caretaker government, was laid to rest at Banani graveyard on Monday after Asr prayer following largely attended funerals.

His second namaj-e-janaza was held at Azad Mosque at Gulshan on the city in the afternoon.

Earlier in the noon, Justice Habibur’s first namaj-e-janaza was held at the Supreme Court premises.

After the janaza at 1:35pm, Justices paid their tributes to the former Chief Justice by placing floral wreaths.

Later, his body was taken to Gulshan Azad Mosque for second namaj-e-janaza.

Earlier in the day, the body was taken to Central Shaheed Minar so that people from all walks of life can show their respect to the former Chief Justice.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also paid her tribute to Chief Justice at his residence.

Habibur Rahman was declared dead at 10:30pm Saturday when he was taken to United Hospital after he fell sick.
