JU VC Professor Anwar resigns

DHAKA: Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Professor Anwar Hossain stepped down on Monday amid prolonged movement of a section of teachers.

The educator submitted the resignation letter to President M Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of the university, in the morning.

Registrar of the university Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed to banglanews on Monday afternoon.

He said, “The personal secretary of the VC submitted the resignation letter to the Chancellor’s personal secretary.”

On Sunday, Prof Dr Anwar Hossain announced that he would quit soon after meeting the President.

JU Teachers’ Association (JUTA) declared the VC persona non-grata on the campus forcing him to stay at a rented house in the capital’s Uttara area.
