DHAKA: After one-month break, Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) south began again to evict risky and illegal billboards from capital since Monday midnight.
An executive magistrate, high officials were present in the nighttime drive.
This scenario was seen during a spot visit.
Earlier, DCC had started the eviction drive one month ago but operation stopped due to political stalemate in the country.
DCC security officer Mohsin Ali said to banglanews that after one month break, they started the drive through removing a billboard in the High Court area around 11:00pm and later they came to Shahbagh area around 1:30 am and evicted two risky billboards.
They identified all risky bill boards in those areas and will evict 100 billboards in phases, he added.
During this eviction drive, they removed at least 25 billboards from Banglamotor, Ruposhibangla Hotel intersection, Paltan, Motijheel and Dhayaganj areas.
DCC (south) magistrate M. Autul Mandal confirmed the matter to banglanews.
