DHAKA: Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the day of birth and demise of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) observed on Tuesday across the country as elsewhere in the Muslim World with due respect and religious fervour.  

Various religious, socio-political and cultural organizations have chalked out programmes in the capital and elsewhere in the country, including milad mahfil and Qurankhwani, marking the day.

To mark the day, Islamic Foundation is set to arrange Waj Mahfil after Magrib till 11:00pm. The other programmes includes qirat mahfil and hamd-naat competition for the students, seminar and discussion meetings.

Besides, different mosques, madrashas and various religious organizations in the capital and elsewhere across the country organized milad mahfil on the occasion.

On this day in 570 AD, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hizri calendar, Prophet Muhammad was born in Makkah in Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind.

He passed away on the same day in 632 AD. The day was a public holiday.

President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in separate messages on the occasion greeted the countrymen and the Muslims across the world.

In his message, Abdul Hamid said Allah sent Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)’s relentless efforts removed untruth, injustice and malpractice from the world and removed the darkness to illuminate the world with the light of truth.
The `Madina Charter`, the first written constitution of the history, which was formulated under the leadership of the Prophet in the year 622, contains the declaration of establishing the rights and dignity of all irrespective of religion, colour and cast, the President said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, expressed profound respect to the Prophet on the occasion of this birth and death anniversary.

She expressed firm conviction that the proper practice of the code of life of the Prophet, who is `Rahmatullil Alamin` and `Uswatun Hasana`, can ensure restoration of peace in the present conflicting world.
