LAXMIPUR: Awami League-led 14-party candidate from Tarikat Federation Lion MA Awal won unofficially in the polls to Laxmipur-1 constituency on Thursday.
 
Awal bagged 49,888 votes in 81 while independent candidate Shafiqul Islam polled 21,790 votes, according to returning office at Laxmipur. In 81 centres the number of voters is 185,669.  

After announcement of final result, MA Awal and Shafiqul Islam were not available over phone to make their comments.  

Awami League-nominated candidate MA Awal and independent candidate Shafiqul Islam contested the election.

MA Awal contested with his symbol boat and Shafiqul contested with his electoral symbol pineapple

The voting started at 8:00am and without any interruption ended at 4:00pm, said returning officers of the constituency.
