Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered battery-run rickshaws and easy bikes to ply in Dhaka City.

Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader informed of PM’s order while talking to media at Awami Ulama League's anniversary programme in the capital today (May 20).

He said considering the sufferings of the low-income people and impact on price of commodities and fuel due to global crises, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to allow to run battery-run rickshaw on the city streets for now.

However, these rickshaws will not ply on the highways, he added.
