3 Ansarullah Bangla Team men get different jail terms

A Rangpur court today (May 20) sentenced three members of the banned militant organization Ansarullah Bangla Team to separate terms of imprisonment.

On Monday (May 20) at noon, Rangpur Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal Judge Md. Mujibur Rahman passed the verdict.

The convicts are Zahid Hasan alias Abu Zayed Al Ansar, Mubarak Alam and Shah Alam of Keranipara in Pradhan Nagar.

Among the convicts, the court in its verdict sentenced Zahid to four and a half years in prison and a fine of Tk 6000, in default another two months in prison, Mubarak, and Shah Alam to four years imprisonment and a fine of Tk 4000, in default of two months’ imprisonment.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Ruhul Amin Talukder confirmed the matter. 

On the night of May 4, 2017, a team of RAB-13 learned that some members of the militant organization Ansarullah Bangla Team had gathered for sabotage at the house of Abdullah's son Zahid Hasan alias Abu Zayed Al Ansar in Keranipara, Rangpur sadar.

Later, RAB in a drive arrested this three convicts. 

During the raid, RAB recovered bomb-making gun powder, motorcycle ball bearings, old capacitors, scotch tape, electric wires, batteries and mobile sets from Zahid's house. 

Along with this, RAB got various information related to bomb making method, plans and efforts of criminal organization through social media stored on Zahid's mobile phone.

In this incident, RAB filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Kotwali police station accusing Zahid and his associates.

Later, absconding accused Mubarak Alam and Shah Alam were arrested by the members of police.

After the investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against them in the court.
