Third gender candidate Munni Akter of Jamalpur Dewanganj, has won the upazila parishad election.

Munni has won the post of vice chairman by getting 23,768 votes in the second phase of the Sixth Upazila Parishad election held on Tuesday (May 21).

Munni's nearest rival Majeda Begum got 21,184 votes, Mira Akter got 14,223 votes, Maryam Begum 21,184 votes. Rashida Begum 4,323 votes, Rokshana Akter 3411 votes. Five women candidates lost with huge votes in competition with the third gender candidate.
