Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) members of Dhaka airport today (May 23) detained two people along with gold worth Tk 5 crore from a Dubai flight.
This information was confirmed through a press release signed by Sabrina Amin, Assistant Director of Airport Customs Intelligence and Investigation Circle.
The two arrestees identified as Chinese nationals named Zhongliang and Chen Geng.
They came from Dubai on a flight of Fly Dubai that landed at the airport around 7am, according to the press release.
The release said, based on information, the officials seized the three charger lights, where the gold bars was concealed inside the batteries.
The total weight of recovered gold is 5.336 kg. The estimated market value of the seized gold is Tk 5 crore 1 lakh 58 thousand.
The process to file a case in this connection is underway.
