DINAJPUR: An elderly man was stabbed to death by his son in Birampur Upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Aftab Uddin, 60, a retired Assistant Sub-Inspector of police, hailed from Jagannathpur Mandalpara of Birampur municipal.

Sources said that Upazila Chhatra League joint convener Manik locked into altercation with his father Aftab over a family matter and at stage, he stabbed his father with a knife, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Birampur Thana Officer-in-Charge confirmed the matter to banglanews.
