DHAKA: The by-election of Rangpur-6 constituency will be held on February 20 which became vacated as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Awami League president left the seat.

A reliable source of Election Commission (EC) confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The schedule will be announced after the meeting of Election commission which has started at 11:00am Sunday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was elected as a member of the parliament from Rangpur-6 and Gopalganj-3 constituencies during the 10th national election on January 5.

Later on January 8, the premier sent written papers to the EC wishing to leave Rangpur-6 constituency.

On January 15, the Election Commission issued a gazette notification declaring the seat vacate.
