A total of 10,408,918 animals were sacrificed across Bangladesh during Eid-ul-Azha this year, according to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.
The number was 10,041,812 and 9,950,763 in 2022 and 2023 respectively, the ministry disclosed the data in a press statement on Tuesday (June 18).
The number of sacrificial animals increased by 367,106 this year compared to the last year, according to the ministry statement.
Dhaka division sacrificed the most animals, while the least was sacrificed in Mymensingh division this year.
A total of 25,29,182 cattle were sacrificed in Dhaka division, 20,57,520 in Chattogram, 24,26,111 in Rajshahi, 10,8,855 Khulna, 4,28,438 in Barishal, 3,93,742 in Sylhet, 11,72,553 in Rangpur and 3,92,517 in Mymensingh divisions this year.
