Re-voting begins in 2 centers

KURIGRAM: Amid tight security measures, re-voting has started in two polling centers, where voting were postponed for rigging allegations, in the Kurigram-4 constituency on Thursday.

The voting began at 8:00am and will continue till 4:00pm without any break.

Jatiya Party (JP) candidate Ruhul Amin bagged 30,544 votes while his nearest opponent Zakir Hossain of Awami League got 23,946 votes in 104 polling centers out of 106 centers in Kurigram-4 constituency on January 5 national election.

Difference of votes between them is 6,598 and the numbers of voters in these two centers are 7,257.

Concerning sources said that some 28 armed police and 10 Ansar members were deployed in every polling center to hold the election peacefully.

Earlier, the rescheduled poll in two polling centers of Kurigram-4 constituency was postponed by an order of the High Court.

On January 5 polls, vote casting in the two centers was postponed due to violence.
